If you are travelling from Incheon Airport with children, the fare depends on school year rather than on age. What counts as a child on the airport bus?
Age is not the test; school year is. 공항리무진 (Airport Limousine bus) sets it out plainly: The child fare applies to elementary school pupils; from middle school upwards the adult fare applies.
That catches families out in both directions. A tall twelve-year-old still pays the child fare if they are in elementary school; a small thirteen-year-old in middle school pays the adult fare.
What does it actually cost?
On the non-stop route between central Seoul and 인천국제공항 (Incheon International Airport), the adult fare is ₩17,000 and the child fare is ₩12,000.
For a family of two adults and two elementary-age children that is a meaningful gap against a single taxi, and it is worth doing the arithmetic before you land rather than at the counter.
Does my toddler need a ticket?
Usually not, with one condition worth knowing: One pre-school child accompanying one passenger travels free; a child fare applies if a seat is requested or if one passenger brings two children.
In practice that means a lap-held pre-schooler is free, but two small children with one adult are not both free, and asking for a seat converts a free child into a paying one. On a long ride after a long flight, paying for the seat is often the better trade.
What if we are taking the train instead?
The airport railroad prices its inter-terminal hop separately from its city services: ₩1,050 for a journey of 6 minutes. Fares into the city are set by distance and are not the same figure.
If you are moving between terminals with children, 공항철도 (Airport Railroad Express line) is the cheap option, and the operator's hotline is 1599-7788 if you need to confirm anything for a specific service.

When the bracket is genuinely unclear — a child who has just changed school, or a booking made for someone else — settle it at the ticket counter rather than on the bus. Staff apply the rule on the spot and the queue moves faster than an argument at the door.
