Highlights

The short answer

If you need to leave a bag for the day in Myeongdong or Hongdae, both stations have a staffed T-Luggage storage counter on the basement level, and the Seoul subway also runs unmanned T-Locker lockers across its network. You can reserve and pay for a locker in the T-Locker app, or pay at the kiosk after you reach the locker, though which payment channel applies varies by location. The staffed counters also list an extra-large storage tier and can send a bag on to another station or the airport. Prices and hours were checked against Seoul Metro and T-Luggage pages in September 2026.

Checking out of a hotel in the morning and flying out in the evening leaves a day with a suitcase and nowhere to put it. Seoul's subway offers two ways to deal with that: unmanned T-Locker lockers in stations across the network, where you reserve and pay in the T-Locker app or pay at the kiosk after visiting the locker, depending on the location, and staffed T-Luggage counters, including ones at Myeong-dong and Hongik University stations, which you can book online or visit in person. This guide explains how each works, where the counters are at those two stations, what the staffed service costs, and how to choose between them.

The details below come from the published pages of Seoul Metro, the T-Luggage service, Incheon Airport and the airport limousine bus operator. Prices and hours change, so check the official pages shortly before you use either option.

What are my options for leaving a bag for the day?

This guide covers two systems inside Seoul subway stations.

The first is the station locker network, branded T-Locker. Unmanned T-Locker lockers are available within Seoul subway stations, with a total of 332 locations and 5,511 lockers. The lockers come in different sizes: T-Locker banks are sized small, middle and big, and the count of each differs by station exit.

The second is T-Luggage, a staffed counter. In the operator's words: T-luggage is a convenience facility in the station where you can store your luggage or use a delivery service to a station or the airport.

A counter can be booked ahead online. For a locker, whether you reserve and pay in the T-Locker app or pay at the kiosk varies by location. The counters also offer an extra-large storage tier with no stated maximum, a person to hand the bag to, and delivery to another station or the airport.

Where can I leave luggage in Myeongdong?

Myeongdong Station (명동역) is on Seoul Subway Line 4 (서울 지하철 4호선), and it is one of the stations with a T-Luggage counter. The T-luggage counter at Myeong-dong station (Line 4) is on B1, around exits 9 and 10.

The counter's reception hours are 09:00–22:00. If you plan to collect your bag late in the evening, work backwards from that closing time rather than from your flight time.

This guide has no verified list of T-Locker banks at Myeong-dong station, or of how many lockers of each size they hold; across the network, the count of each size differs by station exit.

Where can I leave luggage in Hongdae?

Hongik University Station (홍대입구역) also has a T-Luggage counter. The T-luggage counter at Hongik Univ. station (Line 2) is on B1, around exits 3 and 4. It keeps the same reception hours as the rest of the T-Luggage network.

As in Myeongdong, this guide has no verified list of T-Locker banks at Hongik University station.

If you are arriving in Hongdae on airport bus 6002 or N6002 with your bags, note that the drop-off stop towards downtown has moved, while the boarding stop back to Incheon Airport has not. On arrival from the airport: Drop-off for airport buses 6002 and N6002 towards downtown is the curbside stop, no longer the centre-lane stop. The change took effect on 2026-07-01. Heading back to the airport: The stop for boarding towards Incheon Airport is unchanged and is still the centre-lane stop. If you are collecting a bag from the counter before an airport bus, allow time to walk from the station to the correct stop.

How much does T-Luggage storage cost?

T-Luggage prices depend on bag size and on whether you use it on a weekday or a weekend. T-luggage storage fees cover a basic 4 hours, then an additional fee applies per hour beyond that, the same structure on weekdays and weekends.

How much does T-Luggage storage cost?
Bag sizeWeekdayWeekend
Small₩3,000₩4,000
Medium₩4,000₩6,000
Large₩6,000₩9,000
Extra-large₩9,000₩13,000

These are the prices for the basic period. As an example of how the hourly charge works after that, the service lists a medium bag on a weekday as follows: 4,000 won~ for the first 4 hours (weekday), medium bag (20"-23"), plus 1,000 won per additional hour.

Size bands are set out in the comparison table above, so check your case against them before you go. If you leave a bag for longer than the basic period, the hourly charge is added on top of the base price in the table.

How do subway lockers work if I don't have a Korean phone or the app?

There are two ways to pay for a locker: Reserve and pay through the T-Locker app, or pay at the kiosk after visiting the locker (payment channel varies by location).

Which of those two channels applies varies by location, so do not count on paying at a kiosk without the app until you have checked the locker you plan to use. What this guide cannot confirm is which payment types each kiosk accepts, or whether any step at the kiosk asks for a Korean phone number. Check the payment step before you lock your bag in.

A few practical points follow from how the lockers are set up:

  • The number of lockers of each size differs by exit, so if one bank has no big locker free, try a different exit at the same station.
  • Lockers are unmanned, so there is no attendant at the bank. Note the station and exit before you walk away.
  • If your bag is clearly bigger than a standard carry-on, consider a T-Luggage counter: its extra-large storage tier has no stated maximum, and this guide has no verified dimensions for the big lockers.

This guide has no verified locker prices, so check the charge before you commit.

When does a staffed storage counter make sense?

A T-Luggage counter is worth considering when:

  • your bag is large, because the counter's extra-large storage tier has no stated maximum;
  • you would rather hand the bag to staff, booking ahead online at Tluggage.co.kr/eng or registering at the counter;
  • you want the bag sent on, so you can go to the airport or another station without it.

This guide has no verified opening hours for locker banks, so do not assume one is open when the counter is closed.

What should I check before I leave my bag?

A few minutes of planning avoids most problems on the day:

  1. Compare your case with the T-Luggage size tiers in the comparison table, so you know which tier and price would apply at a counter. This guide has no verified dimensions for the lockers.
  2. Decide when you need the bag back. If that is late in the evening, make sure it falls within the counter's reception hours of 09:00–22:00.
  3. If you want a counter booking, make it in advance at Tluggage.co.kr/eng rather than relying on walking up at a busy time.
  4. If you want a locker, find out before you go whether that location takes payment in the T-Locker app or at the kiosk.
  5. When you drop the bag, note the station name and the exit number, and keep any receipt or confirmation. At a locker bank, note the locker number as well.
  6. If you plan to have the bag delivered, confirm the destination is on the T-Luggage network before you hand it over.

Can T-Luggage send my bag to another station or the airport?

Yes. T-Luggage provides same-day luggage delivery between Seoul subway stations and the airport, booked online at Tluggage.co.kr or registered on site. Delivery is priced by bag size, by destination and by weekday or weekend:

Can T-Luggage send my bag to another station or the airport?
Bag size and routeWeekdayWeekend
Small to medium, station to station₩17,000₩25,000
Small to medium, station to airport₩20,000₩29,000
Large, station to station₩26,000₩38,000
Large, station to airport₩26,000₩38,000
Extra-large (27 to 36 inches), station to station₩31,000₩45,000
Extra-large (27 to 36 inches), station to airport₩31,000₩45,000

The extra-large delivery prices are listed for cases up to 36 inches. This guide has no delivery price for anything bigger, so check with T-Luggage before booking delivery for a larger case.

For a bag that is stored first and then delivered, the fee rule is: Delivery fee is charged based on distance travelled after storage, calculated automatically and charged to the registered payment method.

The counter network covers a handful of stations, so check that the station you need is on it. The counters listed are: Storage/delivery counters at Seoul Station (B1, exit 1), Hongik Univ. (B1, exits 3-4), Jamsil (B1, exits 3-4), Myeong-dong (B1, exits 9-10), Gimpo Int'l Airport station (B1, near information center), Jongno 3-ga (B1, exit 6).

What if the counter is closed or the lockers are full?

The T-Luggage counters take bags during the reception hours listed above. This guide has no verified locker hours or list of locker banks at Myeong-dong or Hongik University, so if you will arrive after the counter closes, check what is available before you set out rather than counting on a locker.

If you end up keeping your bag with you, the subway does allow luggage within limits. Items larger than 158cm (sum of length, width and height) or heavier than 32kg are restricted; wheelchairs, strollers and folded bicycles are exempted.

The T-Luggage call centre number listed for the Gimpo Airport station counter is 02-6110-2977.
