Incheon Airport taxi guide: fares, surcharges and pickup points

Highlights
The short answer
Visitors can take a taxi from Incheon Airport at designated pickup points at Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, where standard Seoul taxis, deluxe and jumbo taxis, International and Smart taxis, and pre-booked hailing taxis each have their own stands. Standard taxis share one base fare for Seoul, Incheon and Gyeonggi taxis, with a night surcharge late in the evening and early morning, and a boundary surcharge if you go beyond Seoul, Incheon and four named Gyeonggi cities. The International Taxi charges a flat fare within Seoul for foreign nationals. Use only the designated stands. Fares, stands and surcharges were checked against the airport's official taxi page in September and October 2026.

This guide is for visitors who want to leave Incheon International Airport (인천국제공항) by taxi rather than by train or limousine bus. It sets out which taxi types wait at the airport, where the airport lists pickup points at Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, what the base fares are, how the night and boundary surcharges work, and how the International Taxi and Smart Taxi differ from an ordinary cab. The figures on this page come from Incheon Airport's pages. Fares and surcharges can change, so treat the figures here as a starting point and check the airport's taxi page before a long or late ride.
What kinds of taxi can I take from Incheon Airport?
The airport's taxi information divides the cabs into a small number of types. The airport publishes separate pickup points for standard Seoul taxis, deluxe and jumbo taxis, International and Smart taxis, and hailing taxis, so it helps to decide which one you want before you walk out of the arrivals hall.
- Standard taxis. The airport lists base fares separately for Seoul, Gyeonggi and Incheon taxis.
- Deluxe / Jumbo taxis (9-seater). These have their own base fare, their own night surcharge rule and their own pickup points.
- International Taxi and Smart Taxi. The airport describes them this way: Official designated taxi with foreign language support.
- Hailing taxis. The airport's description of this type: Pre-booked taxi.
- Call taxis for disabled travellers. These are run by city transport operators and reached by phone; see the accessibility section below.
The table below brings the main facts together. Where a cell says "not given", this page does not give that detail.
| Taxi type | Base fare | Pickup at Terminal 1 | Pickup at Terminal 2 | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard taxi (Seoul) | ₩4,800 | Standard taxi (Seoul) pickup: 5C, 6C, 6D | Standard taxi (Seoul) pickup: 7C | Shares its boundary surcharge rate with Gyeonggi taxis (see below) |
| Standard taxi (Gyeonggi) | ₩4,800 | Not given | Not given | Shares its boundary surcharge rate with Seoul taxis (see below) |
| Standard taxi (Incheon) | ₩4,800 | Not given | Not given | Night and boundary surcharge rates listed for Incheon taxis (see below) |
| Deluxe / Jumbo taxi | ₩7,000 | Deluxe / Jumbo taxi pickup: 7C/8C | Deluxe / Jumbo taxi pickup: 7D | Separate night surcharge rule |
| International Taxi / Smart Taxi | Flat fare within Seoul | International Taxi / Smart Taxi pickup: 4C | International Taxi / Smart Taxi pickup: 3C | International Taxi: Foreign nationals only (fares apply for Incheon Airport to Seoul route) |
| Hailing taxi | Not given | Hailing (pre-booked) taxi pickup: 1C, 14C | Hailing (pre-booked) taxi pickup: 1C, 10C | Pre-booked taxi |
Where do I board a taxi at Terminal 1 and Terminal 2?
The airport identifies each taxi pickup point by a short code. Match the code for your taxi type to the stand rather than getting into the first car you see, because the stands are separated by type.
Terminal 1
- Standard taxis (Seoul): Standard taxi (Seoul) pickup: 5C, 6C, 6D.
- Deluxe / Jumbo taxis: Deluxe / Jumbo taxi pickup: 7C/8C.
- International Taxi and Smart Taxi: International Taxi / Smart Taxi pickup: 4C.
- Hailing (pre-booked) taxis: Hailing (pre-booked) taxi pickup: 1C, 14C.
Terminal 2
- Standard taxis (Seoul): Standard taxi (Seoul) pickup: 7C.
- Deluxe / Jumbo taxis: Deluxe / Jumbo taxi pickup: 7D.
- International Taxi and Smart Taxi: International Taxi / Smart Taxi pickup: 3C.
- Hailing (pre-booked) taxis: Hailing (pre-booked) taxi pickup: 1C, 10C.
The standard-taxi pickup points above are the ones the airport gives for Seoul taxis. At Terminal 1, the airport lists an information desk: 24-hour information desk near Exit 10 on 1F, Terminal 1.
If you are not sure which terminal your airline uses, settle that first; the pickup codes above only make sense once you know which building you are in.
What is the base fare for a taxi from Incheon Airport?
The base fare is the starting fare for the taxi type, not an estimate of the whole journey. The airport lists:
- Standard taxi, Seoul: ₩4,800
- Standard taxi, Gyeonggi: ₩4,800
- Standard taxi, Incheon: ₩4,800
- Deluxe / Jumbo taxi: ₩7,000
The airport information used for this guide does not give a total fare from the airport to any district of Seoul or elsewhere, so this page does not offer one. What you pay depends on the taxi type, the time of day and whether your destination lies beyond the six areas named in the boundary surcharge section below. If you are a foreign national and want a flat fare within Seoul, the International Taxi and Smart Taxi section explains that option.
When does the night surcharge apply, and how much is it?
The airport gives a general summary first: A night surcharge of approximately 20% to 40% applies to taxis between 22:00 and 04:00.
The exact rate and window depend on the taxi type. For standard taxis, the airport gives rates for trips to Seoul and for trips to Gyeonggi, and separately for Incheon taxis:
| Ride | Night surcharge and time window |
|---|---|
| Standard taxi, trip to Seoul | 20% from 22:00 to 23:00; 40% from 23:00 to 02:00; 20% from 02:00 to 04:00 |
| Standard taxi, Incheon taxi | In the same three time bands as the trip-to-Seoul row: 20%, then 40%, then 20% |
| Standard taxi, trip to Gyeonggi | 30% from 23:00 to 04:00 |
| Deluxe / Jumbo taxi | 20% from 22:00 to 04:00 (Gyeonggi taxis: 23:00 to 04:00) |
Two details are easy to miss. The Seoul and Gyeonggi rows describe trips to those destinations, while the Incheon row describes Incheon taxis. For Deluxe / Jumbo taxis, the airport gives one window for Gyeonggi deluxe and jumbo taxis and another for the other deluxe and jumbo taxis, as the last row shows. If your flight lands in the evening, check which row your ride falls into before you set off.
Will I pay a boundary surcharge if I am not going to Seoul?
The airport's taxi information describes Incheon Airport as a joint taxi operation area: Joint taxi operation area for taxis from Seoul, Incheon and Gyeonggi (Gyeonggi limited to Bucheon, Gwangmyeong, Gimpo, Goyang). For Gyeonggi, that covers only the four cities named.
The boundary surcharge rule is set out separately, in terms of where you are going: No boundary surcharge from Incheon Airport to Seoul, Incheon, Goyang, Gwangmyeong, Gimpo or Bucheon; beyond them the surcharge applies from the point the taxi leaves those areas (e.g. to Paju, from where the taxi exits Goyang).
Where the surcharge applies, the rate depends on the taxi's region:
- Seoul and Gyeonggi taxis: 20% for destinations outside Seoul, Incheon, Goyang, Gwangmyeong, Gimpo and Bucheon.
- Incheon taxis: 30% for destinations outside the same six areas.
In practice, if your hotel is in Seoul, Incheon, Goyang, Gwangmyeong, Gimpo or Bucheon, the airport says no boundary surcharge applies to your ride from the airport. If it is beyond them, the surcharge starts from the point where the taxi leaves those areas, as in the airport's own example of a ride to Paju.
How do the International Taxi and Smart Taxi work?
These are the airport's designated taxis with foreign-language support. The key facts the airport publishes are:
- What they are: Official designated taxi with foreign language support.
- How the fare works: Flat fare within Seoul.
- Who the International Taxi fares are for: Foreign nationals only (fares apply for Incheon Airport to Seoul route).
- Terminal 1 pickup: International Taxi / Smart Taxi pickup: 4C.
- Terminal 2 pickup: International Taxi / Smart Taxi pickup: 3C.
- International Taxi phone: 1644-2255.
- Smart Taxi phone: 032-743-2357.
For a destination within Seoul, the fare is flat. Our sources do not list the flat-fare amounts, whether they change by district, or whether the Smart Taxi carries the same nationality rule as the International Taxi. They also do not say how fares are set for a destination outside Seoul. Before you rely on either service, call the number above or ask at the pickup point what your ride will cost and whether you qualify.
The airport also describes both services as offering foreign-language support, as listed above.
Can I pre-book a taxi to meet me at the airport?
The airport lists a separate type for this, the hailing taxi, described as a pre-booked service with its own pickup points:
- Terminal 1: Hailing (pre-booked) taxi pickup: 1C, 14C.
- Terminal 2: Hailing (pre-booked) taxi pickup: 1C, 10C.
Our sources do not say which apps or companies take these bookings, what they cost or how long a driver will wait.
Are there taxis for wheelchair users and disabled travellers?
The airport's taxi information lists call taxis for disabled travellers, operated by city transport bodies:
- Seoul Facilities Corporation: 1588-4388.
- Incheon Transport Corporation: 1577-0320.
The airport lists the phone numbers but not the eligibility rules, fares or how far ahead to book. Call the operator before you travel to ask how a pickup at the airport works and whether it covers your destination.
If you are coming back to the airport by taxi for your departure, there are drop-off points set aside for disabled passengers: Designated drop-off zones for disabled passengers are near Exits 3, 7, and 12 at Terminal 1, and near Exits 4 and 9 at Terminal 2.
What if someone offers me a ride inside the terminal?
Decline it and go to the stand for your taxi type. The airport's own warning is blunt: Illegal solicitation and overcharging by call vans posing as taxis are common; use designated taxi stands.
A few habits keep you on the official side of the kerb:
- Know your taxi type and its pickup code before you leave the arrivals area (see the table above).
- Board only at a designated stand, not from someone who approaches you indoors.
- If you are a foreign national and want the flat fare within Seoul, look for the International Taxi or Smart Taxi at its own pickup point rather than agreeing a price with a driver who approached you.
- Keep the taxi's details if anything about the ride or the fare seems wrong.
If you have been approached or think you were overcharged, the airport's main contact and reporting line is 1577-2600. For general help with airport transport, see our guide to calling the tourist helpline.
What else should I know before taking a taxi from the airport?
If you need to get to Gimpo Airport, the airport lists these ways of making that transfer: Airport Railroad Train (AREX), airport limousine buses, and taxis.
Several practical points fall outside what our sources cover. The airport information used here does not describe how to pay a taxi (card, cash or transport card), does not give luggage rules for taxis and does not give a total fare for any route. If any of those matter to your plan, ask at the stand or call the service you intend to use before you set off. If you would rather compare a taxi with the limousine bus, the bus guide linked below covers stops, tickets and boarding at both terminals.

Questions people ask
Where is the taxi stand at Incheon Airport?
The airport publishes pickup points at Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 for standard Seoul taxis, deluxe and jumbo taxis, International and Smart taxis, and hailing taxis, each identified by a short code. The section on boarding lists those codes.
Is there a night surcharge on taxis from Incheon Airport?
Yes. The rate and time window depend on the taxi type. For standard taxis, the airport lists rates for trips to Seoul, for trips to Gyeonggi and for Incheon taxis. The night surcharge table on this page sets out each case.
Do I pay extra to go somewhere outside Seoul?
There is no boundary surcharge if your destination is in Seoul, Incheon or the Gyeonggi cities of Goyang, Gwangmyeong, Gimpo or Bucheon. Beyond those, a boundary surcharge applies from the point the taxi leaves that area, at a rate that depends on the taxi region. Night surcharges are a separate rule, described above.
Who can use the International Taxi flat fare?
The airport lists the International Taxi fares for foreign nationals on the route from the airport into Seoul. Our sources do not give the fare amounts, so call the service or ask at its pickup point before you ride.
Is it safe to accept a ride from someone in the arrivals hall?
The airport warns about call vans posing as taxis that solicit passengers and overcharge them. Decline the offer and board only at a designated taxi stand.
